Linco Care is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s prestigious Insider Made in the North West Awards.
A panel of industry judges voted on the shortlist and the winners will be announced in May at Bolton Whites’ Macron Stadium. The victors will automatically go through to the grand final Made in the UK, where the best of British manufacturing and export will be celebrated.
The awards help to showcase the region and champion its diverse manufacturing industries, ranging from life sciences to artisan food brands. Linco Care has been shortlisted in the toughly contested Export Award alongside five other firms: Force Technology, TALL Group, Francis Kirk, Group 55 and Kendal Nutri Care.
Last year, Linco Care built upon its existing export successes by registering products and intellectual property in Malaysia and Indonesia. The company currently exports to over 60 countries worldwide, including markets in Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East. Its percentage of export-related turnover has increased from 20% in 2010 to its current level of 44.5%.
Expansion plans afoot
This increase has led to Linco Care investing £500,000 in an expansion of its head office and production facilities, which have been based in Carrington for almost 40 years.
This refurbishment included a factory refit and a new 2,500m² warehouse. In addition to expanding its premises, the company has increased its staff to over 60 people and invested in extra internal and external training for all employees. It continues to support apprenticeship schemes, going on to offer many young people permanent positions at the end of their time as apprentices.
Linco Care’s investment in people and in Research & Development makes it proud that it has also secured a place in the top three in the Medical/Life Sciences Award category alongside Magnesium Elektron and Crawford Healthcare.
The company awaits the awards night with anticipation but to even be nominated is a huge achievement and is testament to the hard work and ambition of the entire team.
